A new day

Wow - it's been a long time since I've updated this - lots been going on I feel like but I haven't seen a single result. I have struggled through trying to diet and exercise and I'm here more than a month later at nearly the same weight. Ridiculous! All I want to do now is just give up, what's the use I'm the same weight working out as hard as I can as I was when I did it whenever I felt like it. The difference -- right now I'm exhausted, sore, walking funny and frustrated. So it got me thinking as I've been trying to train to run 5 miles in less than an hour, oh yeah, and no breaks. Run straight through I've never been able to do that, not even when I was in my best shape, maybe I could have tried to but I never did. So back to my thoughts -- I realize that there is a BIG difference in being skinny and being in shape.
Thanks to one of my roommates our house received a catalog from a certain store where gorgeous, itty bitty models showed of the clothing with as little clothing on as possible. As I skimmed the pages I noticed their abdominals, man I would love those abs, but almost immediately I was drawn to their arms, then looked at their legs, skinny yes, but no definition. Nothing! To me they almost looked like noodles. I came to the realization, I don't want to just be skinny, if I did I could totally restrict my calorie intake focus on walking and yoga and nothing else. But that's not what I want. I want to be toned, in shape to where 5 miles isn't impossible.
That's what I want but getting there - well - not today but instead of giving up I'm going to push myself to stay with it and I guess hope that I see something from all this work.

  1. that's the spirit! you'll do it! i know you will. and you'll get toned, just keep lifting weights. just remember metabolism takes place in the muscle, so the stronger you are the faster your metabolism is :) i know you know that, but sometimes the reminder is nice. keep it up!
